Principal- Scott A Weeks

I have had the privilege of being at Owens Cross Roads for seven years, four of those years as an assistant principal and three as the principal.  Visitors to Owens Cross Roads always remark that this is a special place.  Having taught in 4 different schools in 3 different districts in 2 different states, I can honestly agree with them.  We have a family atmosphere that comes from being a small community school.  Everyone knows everyone, and we all work together to give our students the best education possible.

I was born in Chicago and spent the early part of my childhood in the Midwest, but moved to the Huntsville area and officially converted to a Southerner!  I attended Liberty University to pursue a career in education but ended up operating several steakhouse restaurants before getting into teaching.  I married my high school sweetheart and we have 3 beautiful children who are all at Owens Cross Roads School this year.

I began my teaching career at the middle school level as an English teacher and a wrestling coach in Virginia. I enjoyed teaching students how to become better communicators and how to think for themselves. I wanted my students to be grounded in their community but able to think with a global perspective.  When I came to Owens Cross Roads, I was thrilled to find a similar culture that emphasized joining with the community to promote life-long learning.

I thoroughly enjoy reading and I love to travel domestically and abroad.  I teach Sunday School to preschool kids at Rivertree Church and enjoy spending time with my family.  If I can ever be of any service, please don't hesitate to contact me at sweeks@mcssk12.org
